Resource Centre – The FCS Library

libraryThe FCS Library is one of the hallmarks of the school. Meant to inculcate the habit of reading amongst the students while also serving as a storehouse of information both related to studies and otherwise, it is monumental to say the least housing a wide variety of books and journals. Renowned works of Fiction, Classics, Self Help Books, Science & Technology Periodicals, Journals related to history, culture, exploration along with selected local and national dailies will be housed here.


Library Facilities

The FCS Library is Fully Automated Electronic Library. All the users can search and ask for titles and subjects through Library Software LIBSYS based OPAC Systems. FCS Library serve people from all walks of life that include students, teachers and consistently utilizing computer and other IT tools for better information organization and services.   Recently we are introducing “GURUSPEAK” – Audio Video Programme on various topics on science, arts, social studies etc.


Working Hours

The Library is kept open on all weekdays, except on Sunday and Public holidays as listed. The opening hours are:

  • Monday to Friday : 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  Book Issue / Return Timings: -  
  • Return : On all working days from 8:15 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Issue : On all working days from 8:15 am to 2 pm.
  • Reading : On all working days from 8:15 am to 2 pm.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)

To find the Library materials, a reader may search the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). This computer based library database contains records of publications received in the Library .e.g. Books and Other documents, Journals, and Journals etc.


These catalogues gets positioned as letters characters of the corresponding bibliographic information as known entered every time, ‘Librarian Choice’ responds by displaying a page consisting of the first ten entries starting with that bibliographic information. A message |No match| is flashed if there is no exact entry but catalogue is positioned to the next entry. The catalogue can be browsed further by using |PgUp| or |PgDn| arrows provided on right side of the list, which would show the next nine entries or previous nine entries of the catalogue. A |Line Up| or |Line Dn| arrow results in scrolling the catalogue entry by entry in either direction.

  Author Catalogue   This catalogue contains one entry for each of the personal and corporate authors of the title. The personal author entries are present in the catalogue in the order of their last name. The system prompts you to enter the author name to be retrieved.   Title Catalogue   This catalogue is arranged in the alphabetic order of the title. It also includes series of the title. The system prompts to enter the title name to be retrieved.   Classified Catalogue   This catalogue is organised in the order of class number. Enter class no. to be retrieved. First three characters of the main entry may also be given to position the catalogue more accurately.   Subject Catalogue   This catalogue is arranged in the alphabetic order of the subject headings or keywords. The system prompts to enter the subject heading to be retrieved.   Library Collections   Total Library Documents – 6450 (Total Books as per Register 6010 & Non Book Materials 440 as on 30/09/2012).   Different categories of Books   The FCS library is a fully automated Electronic Library. The Library has a commendable collection of books, Journals, Magazines etc. Different categories of books and their volumes are given below:
