Academic Aspects of FCS (2017 – 2018)

Future Campus School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi, Affiliation Code No. 2430097).   Students appear in board examination in standard X and XII. Ours is an English medium school with Hindi /Bengali as the Second Language. The academic year for various classes is divided as follows :-   For Classes LKG – II, there are three terms namely Term I which is from April to July, Term II from August to November and Term III from December to March. The children are assessed on the basis of Assessments such as comprehension, concepts and environmental sensitivity and are awarded grades.   For the rest of the classes there are two terms, Term I from April to September, and Term II from October to March. Classes III to X are assessed on the basis of Periodic Assessments, Half Yearly and Annual Examination and are graded according to the nine point grading scale provided by the CBSE Board. Classes XI & XII are assessed on the basis of Unit Tests, Half-Yearly and Annual Examinations. For these classes the academic subjects are graded on the nine-point scale. Students are awarded proficiency certificates in individual subjects if they secure the highest grade i.e. A1.   In FCS we focus on collective success and team work. There is a constant endeavor to upgrade the infrastructure of the school. A state-of-the-art Computer Lab for the Senior Section, auditorium, an entire new floor of airy and bright classrooms, a large library, a strong Committee for maintaining discipline, a counselor and a Special Educator for solving behavioral problems and a well-equipped infirmary supervised by a trained nurse are all part of the learning environment which the school provides to help an FCS student grow into a well rounded individual.   The Future Campus School, Sonarpur, organizes an annual science camp in collaboration with eminent scientist and renowned personalities associated with the field of basic science. The main objective of this camp is to encourage the young minds and to inspire them to explore the vast realm of the knowledge and the concepts of Modern Science, along with helping them with their regular scholastic curriculum.   The Science Camp is an interactive and participative learning curve for both the instructors and the students alike. It has always been an endeavor by the organizers to inculcate logical thinking and also to acquaint the nascent intellectuals and scientists of tomorrow with the more recent advances in the field of physics and chemistry. The demonstration of various laws and their experimental interpretation not only breaks the monotony of regular classroom learning , but also helps the students to assess their scientific aptitude and consider a career along the same lines.   There are various topics from physics and chemistry, on which experiments are conducted. Some of the topics are :

PHYSICS

BULK PROPERTIES OF MATTER
  • Pascal’s Law
  • Surface Tension
  • Viscosity
  • Bernoulli’s Principle

CHEMISTRY

  • Etherification
  • Dye- Preparation
  • Alloy
  • Blue bottle
  • Electrochemistry

Exhibition

Future Campus School organizes an exhibition every year to showcase the talents and abilities of the students. The parents are invited to witness “firsthand”- the presentation of their wards in the curriculum based subjects as well as in the co- curricular activities. The hall is decorated and partitioned into an English corner, a Bengali corner, a Hindi corner, a social science corner, a Science corner and a Math corner. Enthusiastic students eagerly stepped forward to answer every question of the interested visitors and they energetically demonstrated their models and charts. The visitors were a happy lot, when they left the school and they also extracted promises from their wards for such presentations in the following years.   Enthusiastic students eagerly stepped forward to answer every question of the interested visitors and they energetically demonstrated their models and charts.
